Aprenticeship

Life as an apprentice cook at Wheatfield’s inc. Located in feelings is good; the pay is great, The staff are all kind and best of all im learning a lot of tool of the trade for a chef. I did about 4 months of work experience at Wheatfield’s until I was offered an apprenticeship as a cook. And now for 2 - 3 months I have been getting paid for what i do. So you may be asking what is Wheatfield’s inc. Well Wheatfield’s is a retirement village which server 3 main courses a day (Breakfast, Lunch and Tea) as well as morning tea and Afternoon tea. I arrive at 7:15 so I don’t really do much of the breakfast stuff but i do help prepare lunch and deserts and I do a pureed and mashed dish for the resident for the residents that need it. Ive been working here for about 8 months now and been employed for about 3 months. This job has been great and i plan to stay here for a long time, Maybe a couple of years after school and hopefully get into a resteraunt.

Youtube Cooking - Epic Meal Time

This segment of my blog is all about the cooking and Cooking shows which happens on you tube, I know people put TV shows on you tube but im doing only the shows which have originated from you tube and nothing else. The Shows I will be talking about today is Epic Mealtime. Epic Mealtime is a you tube cooking shows which is done every Tuesday. Epic Mealtime is basically Bacon strips and Bacon strips and Bacon strips and Bacon strips and Bacon strips… Oh and the occasional Baconator. Epic Mealtime is basically anything you can think off covered in, Jack Daniels sauce, Bacon or Maple syrup. Epic mealtime was originated in Canada and has moved around all over the world, even appearing on the Jay leno Show. The inspiration for the Epic Mealtime boys was when a friend filmed themselves eating a Wendy’s hamburger that contained six Beef patties and eighteen bacon strips to the theme song from The Terminator. They posted the footage of this on You Tube where it gathered Thousands of hits. Epic mealtime is one of the most viewed channels on you tube with a staggering 26,511,328 and a total upload views of 174,944,715 as from 8/08/2011. Epic mealtime is not what I want to be when im older but they are highly enjoyable but if you have a weak stomach you may not want to watch them. You can watch epic mealtime at www.epicmealtime.com

Would I Go On Reality Cooking T.V. Shows

Would I Go On Reality Cooking T.V. Shows

I have been asked this by a number of people from, Friends, Family and people i work with and my answer has always been the same. I would not go on one of the T.V shows like Masterchef, Iron Chef Etc. Because in my own belief it would make more sense to continue work and know your getting paid rather then risking your job and maybe losing master chef or etc. This would mean job searching, Or if you dont lose your job you boss may expect a lot more work out of you and you may not be able to provide it and once again you could get fired. To me these shows are too much of a risk and i believe that it would just make more sense to stay at home.

Who I Would Like To Work For

The following image is of Mario Batali, A chef that i would one day like to work under. A lot of people know Mario Batali from his actions on Iron Chef America. Mario Batali is one of my favourite chefs and i would deffinetly like to work in his signature resteraunt B&B Ristorante located in Las vegas, Nevada. Mario Batali has a range of resteraunts (10 or so) But i would like to work in this one as it is in Las Vegas one of the most Energetic countries in the world. Mario Batali is mostly known for his Italian Quizines and has his own book Molto Gusto (easy italian cooking) Mario Batali is what i one day Aspire to be.

They plan menus, ensure food meets quality standards, estimate food requirements and may estimate food and labour costs. They also supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks. They recruit and hire staff, and they may prepare and cook food on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
